Tips on Qualified Senior Home Care Services

As the general population ages, there is a rise in those seeking information on senior home care services. Keeping an elderly family member in the familiar and comfortable setting of their own home allows for independence, even when additional supports are required. While home care often utilizes non-licensed professionals, such as drivers or housecleaners, it can also include nurses, physical therapists or pain management specialists.

What kinds of services are available for home care for seniors?

Rather than costly live-in residential centers, home care for seniors offers comfort, familiarity and independence. Providing an elderly loved one with specific supports ensures their ability to stay in their home for the longest time possible. A variety of home care providers are available for hire, including:

Transportation: As driving becomes more difficult, aging people may experience difficulty attending doctor’s appointments or other functions such as church, or in managing daily life such as grocery shopping. While taxi or bus services are available, some community resources can provide transportation services for a discounted fee or for free.In addition, explore existing insurance policies for discounts or coverage for transportation to and from doctors appointments. Using the same service repeatedly ensures that the parties are familiar with each other, and that drivers are confident they can assist when needed.

Meals: Nutritious, delicious food production and kitchen cleanup can become an increasingly difficult task for geriatric relatives. In addition to meals, delivery people offer companionship and regular contact with the patient.Professional delivery companies often train their staff to watch for worrying conditions, changes of mood or medical needs.

Home Construction: As needs change for an elderly person, they may need alterations within their home environment, such as lowered cabinets, non-slip flooring or updated bathroom fixtures. Consideration of the cost of long-term, in-care treatment should be taken when faced with the cost of assisting an elderly person to remain in their home.

Licensed Medical Care: Family members may wish to provide regular medical treatment by qualified, licensed professions in the home. This provides comfort for the patient and also regular updates for family members.

Prevention Services for Falls: A newer area of expertise offered is in qualified fall prevention specialists. As falls often result in lengthy hospital stays, fall prevention specialists can look over a space and suggest changes to prevent spills. Common recommendations include updated bathroom fixtures, non-slip flooring and chair assistance.

Where should I look for qualified senior home care professionals?

Often, eldercare agencies can provide insured, licensed individuals to care for aging loved ones. Most community centers, churches, and local government agencies offer a list of reputable agencies and individuals.

How can I pay for home care?

Often, insurance such as Medicaid, Medicare or private policies can cover all or part of these services. Professional insurance agents can provide specific pointers or explanations of individual plans in regard to senior home care.

Take Control Of Your Asthma And Uncover Those Hidden Asthma Triggers Now!

Asthma is the most common lung disease in the world, with more than 20 million Americans suffering from this condition. Asthma attacks are brought about by triggers, and these would encompass several external stimuli, including food, polluted air, cold weather, animal fur, perfume, dust, pollen, etc. So with that in mind, one would think that avoiding these triggers is the easiest and simplest way to avoid an asthma attack, right? However, what triggers an asthma attack in some people may not even bother another asthma sufferer at all.

To make things more confusing, sometimes a trigger will cause a mild reaction one day and then a severe one the next day. To put it succinctly, we may be aware of some asthma triggers that have been around for time immemorial, such as pollen, but other triggers like food ingredients and additives, perfume, detergent soap or fabric softener can also join the fray and trigger a reaction that is nothing short of serious. On days when you are feeling tired and haven’t had enough sleep or are under stress, you may also find that things which never seemed to bother you previously now suddenly do.

Regardless whether you are at home or at work, finding these hidden triggers can be a veritable whodunit, so you’ll need to do some sleuthing to figure out what these triggers are and what you can do to minimize them. Keeping track of your asthma attacks by writing a journal for a few days is a good way to start. Write down those important observations, and try to recall how you were feeling leading up to the attack – were you stressed, tired from work, did your dog do its business on your couch, did your favorite football team lose against your most hated team, etc.

What did you eat? You want to create a prospectus of sorts with each food you have eaten – include the ingredients, and if there are any additives or artificial coloring, note this down as well as it may be a trigger for some sufferers. Where did you go that day? Did you notice bouquets of flowers blooming a few feet away, did you pass by any animals, did you detect any moldy odor in your surroundings? Have you started using a new brand of detergent, or probably a new household cleaner or fabric softener? Your journal would also need documentation on the exercises you did and the reaction of your body. Did any of these exercises lead to any negative results or unpleasant feeling? Why? Anything peculiar about the weather? Describe the room you exercised in – how were the surroundings? Finally, figure out if there was anything that wasn’t quite right if you were exercising in the same room where you normally exercise in.

Give it a few days and you will finally see some clues manifesting themselves from your journal entries. You will have uncovered your asthma triggers and now you can take control and prevent an asthma attack by avoiding, reducing or eliminating them.

But take note that it is impossible to avoid each and every trigger, and doing so is futile, especially if you are outside of home, at work, school or wherever you need to be. But off the record, there is such a thing as a non-drug solution to asthma, and some people have attested that it is safe, natural and convenient to use, and most of all, effective against these triggers.

Different type of air purifiers

With all of the services offered for hair and body in the salon these days, the air quality can take a real nose dive. This is not an ideal environment for the worker as well as the customer. A salon air purifier is the answer to keeping the air clean, and here are 4 essential filters your cleaner should have.

Carbon-based- These filters are recognized as the industry leader for removing gaseous pollutants. However, there are a lot of off-gas pollutants and chemicals in salons that even carbon cannot get rid of.

With the constant use of hair spray, nail polisher and so on, they are releasing a lot of volatile organic chemicals into the air. This may cause a lot of health issues like burning eyes, coughing, dry throat, nausea and so on.

So, we need to use an air purifier to remove the VOCs from the air. Check the technical specification on any unit you are considering to make sure that this is true. You will not get a good result if the air purifier is not capable of this function.

HEPA filter- This type of filter is a high efficient particle arresting filter. HEPA filters can trap particles that have the size of 3 microns. And it must be able to remove them with 99.97% efficiency. If you have 10,000 particle in your room, the filter will be able to remove 9,997 of them.

Bacteria and viruses are often smaller that 3 microns, but because many of them attach to particles that are bigger in order to move from one host to the next, they are easily trapped by this type of technology. The condition in the area will be much healthier because the airborne germs can be trapped by the air purifier.

Large Particle Pre-Filter- This is a feature that you will find on more expensive air filter models. This filter traps the large particles that you can see such as hair, dust, nail dust, and pet dander that may come in on client’s clothes.

Taking these types of particles out of the air is important, and for those who suffer with allergies and other chronic respiratory conditions, it can make a real and appreciated difference.

Medium Particle Pre-Filter- With this pre-filter, mould spores and pollen will be filtered. And again these are huge triggers for people with allergies and asthma. Having the air in your salon cleared of these triggers will make for a more enjoyable experience for all who come to you shop. They may not understand why it’s so easy to relax when they’re with you, but who cares, as long as they do.

With this, you will be able to provide a top-notch service for your clients. With these 4 filters, you can achieve this feat.
